The purpose of Saint George Academy is to educate, empower, and enable all students to become caring, contributing citizens who can succeed in an ever-changing world. SGA is committed to focusing on high expectations and individual academic success and to creating a community of respect and responsibility, all within the teaching of our Catholic faith.
A Diverse Population
Saint George Academy (SGA) is a private Catholic college-preparatory high school located in the East Village in New York City. Founded in 1968 by the Fathers of the Order of Saint Basil the Great and the Ukrainian congregants of Saint George Ukrainian Catholic Church, SGA is a microcosm of the ethnically-diverse community that it serves.
With Saint George Academy Chorus performances at the United Nations, as well as visits from high level dignitaries from Europe, our rigorous academic model fostered in a warm, family-like environment has achieved international acclaim from educators around the world.
Through our student and teacher driven Journalism program, the word is getting out about our unique boutique school and its success. Come visit us and pick-up a copy of our quarterly SGA Bulletin or the student newspaper, The SGA Harbinger.
