Saint George Academy is proud to announce that we are now an International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School. This milestone begins our multi-year journey toward full Diploma Programme authorization and reflects our commitment to delivering a globally minded, inquiry-driven education grounded in critical thinking, reflection, and academic excellence.
Beginning with the Class of 2030, students will engage in a four-year IB pathway (Grades 9–12) designed to prepare them for eligibility to earn the IB Diploma—one of the most respected academic credentials worldwide.
Starting in Fall 2026, all grade levels will experience a renewed curriculum intentionally aligned with IB principles as we build toward full IB Diploma Program requirements. Students will be introduced to IB-aligned instructional approaches, including:
Our evolving program builds toward junior- and senior-year participation in IB Diploma Programme coursework, culminating in the opportunity to pursue the full IB Diploma.
At a time when students increasingly pursue college and professional opportunities across the country and around the world, the International Baccalaureate (IB) offers a shared academic framework recognized globally for its rigor and consistency. For many Saint George families—especially those who have lived, learned, or moved between countries—the IB provides an education that “travels,” ensuring students are prepared wherever life takes them.
The IB’s emphasis on inquiry, research, and strong communication skills aligns with what competitive colleges seek in applicants. Its international perspective helps young people understand complex global issues, while extended coursework builds the independence and depth of thinking expected in university classrooms. Whether a student remains in New York, attends college elsewhere in the United States, or continues their education abroad, the IB equips them with the habits of mind and credentials that open doors.
As Saint George Academy looks toward its future, the IB is a natural step—one that honors our culturally rich community and prepares students to thrive in a world defined by mobility, connection, and opportunity.
This transformational curriculum—set in the cultural heart of New York City and rooted in Saint George Academy’s mission—empowers students to become engaged scholars, ethical leaders, and adaptable thinkers prepared to thrive in an interconnected world.
